Growing up on a ranch in Montana, Katy learned at an early age the value of a solid work ethic and general scrappiness. As one of the main horse trainers on the ranch, Katy was occasionally bucked off young horses and would hear her dad behind her shouting, “Get back up on the horse.” Back up she went. That philosophy and tenaciousness are ingrained in Katy today.
Katy founded Remix Marketing Inc. in 2016 because she’s passionate about spearheading impactful thought leadership programs for her clients. Brainstorming compelling topics and narratives, Katy helps bring ideas to life on stage at industry events and in written content for clients such as Adobe and Facebook.
Before Remix, Katy co-founded Big Sky, a successful Silicon Valley marketing/PR firm. Earlier she managed PR programs for Apple including Media and Entertainment, mobile products and QuickTime. She started her career on the PR agency side.
Katy lives in Los Angeles. She is a member of the Forbes Agency Council, and has volunteered with TEDx as a speaker curator and coach. She's served as a member of the board of directors for both the Peninsula Humane Society and the Working Wonders Children’s Museum. These days, she still owns and loves horses, but they aren’t young and she doesn’t get bucked off.
There’s nothing Gretchen loves more than tackling a big project. “I get a rush from mapping out a process, seeing it through and making sure the client is happy,” says Gretchen, who has helped such industry-leading companies as Adobe, Microsoft, SAP, and Sony develop and execute creative strategies to achieve their business goals.
Gretchen kicked off her public relations and marketing career at Waggener Edstrom. There, she quickly worked her way up from an assistant to managing global PR teams for Microsoft. The world of marketing and media relations has since evolved, and Gretchen has been on the front line of change. Gretchen has carved out an expertise in executive speaking and thought leadership, public relations and content marketing.
At Remix Marketing, Gretchen melds deep industry insight with a talent for finding creative and effective ways to help clients tell their unique stories.
